Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Wilhelm Furtwängler
Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36 is the second symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1802. Rooted in the classical symphonic tradition but anticipating Romantic expansion, the work features lively orchestral writing, bold rhythmic drive and structural experimentation, and it occupies a transitional place in Beethoven's early mature period as he pushed the symphony toward greater expressive range.
