Piano Sonatas D. 960 B-flat major / D. 664 A major
Album by Franz Schubert & Radu Lupu
Two piano sonatas by Franz Schubert were composed in 1828 and 1819, representing works from his late and earlier creative periods. Musically they fuse Classical structure with Romantic lyricism: the later sonata adopts expansive forms, rich harmonic language and contemplative slow movements, while the earlier work is shorter, songlike and transparent in texture, together delineating Schubert's development and their place in the piano repertoire.
