Symphony no. 5 in C-sharp minor

Album by Gustav Mahler & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Daniele Gatti

Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1901–1902. The work exemplifies Mahler's late-Romantic orchestral style, employing a large orchestra to juxtapose a funeral-march opening with expansive developmental passages and contrasting lyrical sections, and it occupies a significant place in his output as a move towards more concentrated instrumental writing.
