Concertos Brandebourgeois No. 1, 2, 3 & 5
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Ton Koopman
Concertos Brandebourgeois Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 5 are part of a set of six concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach, compiled and presented to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721. The works exemplify Baroque concerto grosso practice, contrasting groups of soloists with the full ensemble and employing fugal writing, intricate counterpoint and varied instrumental colour, illustrating Bach's approach to concerto form and instrumental writing in the early 18th century.
