Symphonies 5 & 7
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Philharmonia Orchestra & Vladimir Ashkenazy
Symphonies Nos. 5 and 7 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1808 and 1812 respectively. They exemplify Beethoven's mature symphonic style in the early 19th century, characterised by pronounced rhythmic drive, contrasting textures and concentrated motivic development, and they occupy a transitional position between his middle-period innovations and his later works.
