The Messiah
Album by George Frideric Handel & Scholars Baroque Ensemble
Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in 1742. The work mixes choral and orchestral forces in the Baroque style with solo arias and large choral movements, and it was written late in Handel's compositional career as he adapted continental techniques to the English sacred music tradition.
