The Maid of Pskov (Ivan the Terrible) is an opera by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, completed in 1872. Blending Russian nationalist idioms with modal, folk-influenced melodies, vivid choral writing and colourful orchestration, the work is an early large-scale opera that marked Rimsky-Korsakov's emergence as an operatic composer within the circle of mid-19th-century Russian nationalists.
