The Planets
Album by Gustav Holst & New York Philharmonic & Zubin Mehta
The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and first performed in 1918. The suite, cast in seven movements, employs expansive orchestral colours, shifting rhythms and prominent brass and percussion writing to evoke varied astrological characters and occupies an important place in Holst's output and in early 20th-century British orchestral music.
