Peer Gynt
Album by Edvard Grieg & Elly Ameling & San Francisco Symphony & San Francisco Symphony Chorus & Edo de Waart
Peer Gynt is incidental music composed by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg in 1875 to accompany Henrik Ibsen's play. The score combines romantic-era lyrical melodies with colourful orchestration and dramatic scene-setting, and it occupies an important place in Grieg's output as his principal stage music and a key example of Norwegian romantic nationalism.
