Document / Lifes Rich Pageant

Album by R.E.M.

Life's Rich Pageant (1986) and Document (1987) are the fourth and fifth studio albums by American rock band R.E.M. respectively. Musically they foreground jangly, melodic guitar work and tighter, more radio-focused arrangements rooted in alternative and college rock, with lyrics that increasingly engaged with political and observational themes, marking a shift in the band's sound and public profile in the mid-1980s.
