Symphony no. 6 in F major op. 68 (“Pastorale”)
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Columbia Symphony Orchestra & Bruno Walter
Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 (the 'Pastoral') is a symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and premiered in 1808. The work, cast in five movements, evokes rural scenes through lyrical, folk-like melodies, rustic rhythms and rich orchestral colour, and marks a move toward programme-like expression in Beethoven's middle period as he explored narrative and nature-inspired themes within the symphonic form.
