Symphony no. 5
Album by Gustav Mahler & Simfonični orkester RTV Slovenija & Anton Nanut
Symphony No. 5 is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1902. The large-scale late-Romantic orchestral work is characterised by dramatic contrasts, intricate contrapuntal writing and expansive brass and string textures, and it occupies a pivotal place in Mahler's output as a bridge between his earlier song-influenced symphonies and his later, more concentrated orchestral statements.
