Symphony nos. 4 & 5
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & London Symphony Orchestra & Wyn Morris
Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1806 and 1808 respectively. They characterise different aspects of Beethoven's middle-period writing: the Fourth displays Classical poise and lyrical restraint while the Fifth is dominated by an opening C minor motif, pronounced rhythmic urgency and expanded orchestral textures signalling a shift towards greater structural and dramatic ambition in his symphonic output.
