Scheherazade

Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Pavel Kogan & Московский государственный академический симфонический оркестр

Scheherazade is an orchestral suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. The work is programmatic, drawing on tales from One Thousand and One Nights to shape symphonic movements characterised by vivid, colourful orchestration, sweeping melodies and prominent solo lines, and it occupies a central place in Rimsky-Korsakov's later orchestral output and in the late-Romantic Russian repertoire.
