The Piano Quartets

Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Francesca Dego & Timothy Ridout & Laura van der Heijden & Federico Colli

The Piano Quartets are a set of chamber works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1785 and 1786. They are written for piano, violin, viola and cello in the Classical style, with balanced structures, transparent textures, refined harmonic language and an active dialogue between the instruments, and they date from a period when Mozart moved toward larger-scale works and explored richer chamber forms.
