Peer Gynt Suites nos 1 and 2

Album by Edvard Grieg & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Basil Cameron

The Peer Gynt Suites Nos. 1 and 2 are orchestral suites by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, drawn from his incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's play and published as suites in 1888 and 1893. They employ Romantic-era orchestral colour and Norwegian folk-influenced melodies, featuring vivid orchestration, modal harmonies and programme-driven material that figures in Grieg's contribution to late 19th-century Scandinavian musical nationalism.
First released: September 1959
