The 2 Violin Concertos
Album by Béla Bartók & Arabella Steinbacher & Orchestre de la Suisse Romande & Marek Janowski
The 2 Violin Concertos is a collection of two concertos by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1908 and 1938. The works combine late-Romantic lyricism and folk-influenced modes with modernist dissonance, complex rhythms and contrapuntal textures, and they come from different phases of Bartók's career, the first from his early years and the second from his later, more economical period.
