Miserere mei, Deus is a choral composition (a motet) by Italian composer Gregorio Allegri, written in the 1630s for liturgical performance in the Sistine Chapel. The piece contrasts plainchant with polyphonic textures and features ornamented high-voice writing characteristic of late Renaissance and early Baroque Roman Catholic liturgical music, and it is closely associated with the papal choir tradition and the sacred choral repertory of its era.
