Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68 is the first symphony by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed in 1876. The work is a large-scale Romantic-era orchestral composition characterised by dense textures, dramatic orchestration, rigorous thematic development and a synthesis of Classical forms with Romantic expression, and it occupies a pivotal place in Brahms's career as his first major orchestral statement.
