The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Op. 34 is an orchestral suite by English composer Benjamin Britten written in 1945. The work adapts a theme by Henry Purcell into a series of variations that introduce and showcase the instruments of the orchestra through clear, colourful orchestration and neoclassical structures, and it occupies a place in Britten's mid-1940s output as an educational concert piece.
