A Sea Symphony

Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Elizabeth Llewellyn & Marcus Farnsworth & BBC Symphony Orchestra & BBC Symphony Chorus & Martyn Brabbins

A Sea Symphony is a choral symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, completed in 1909. Scored for orchestra, chorus and soloists, it combines expansive orchestral textures, modal harmonies and hymn-like choral writing in large-scale settings of seafaring and natural themes, and as Vaughan Williams's first symphony it marks his emergence as a symphonic voice in early 20th-century British music.
