Empyrean Isles is the second studio album by American jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, released in 1964. Musically it draws on post-bop and modal jazz with lean, groove-oriented arrangements, inventive harmonic language and interactive group improvisation, representing an early step in Hancock's emergence as a composer and bandleader in the modern jazz movement.
