Christus am Ölberge is a secular cantata (often described as an oratorio) by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and first performed in 1803. Scored for tenor soloist, chorus and orchestra, it combines operatic recitative and arioso with expansive choral writing in an early Romantic style and represents one of Beethoven's substantial ventures into large-scale vocal and sacred drama during his middle period.
