First Symphony in C minor, Op. 68
Album by Johannes Brahms & The Cleveland Orchestra & George Szell
Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68 is a symphony by Johannes Brahms, completed and first performed in 1876. The work is scored for a large Romantic orchestra and is organised in four movements that move from turbulent C minor material through dense contrapuntal writing and expansive development to a C major finale, and it grew from Brahms's long effort to write a symphony.
