Symphonies 7 & 8
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Riccardo Chailly & Gewandhausorchester Leipzig
Symphonies Nos. 7 and 8 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and first performed in the early 1810s (premiered in 1813 and 1814). They illustrate Beethoven's mature symphonic language, with the seventh emphasising rhythmic energy and expanded orchestral colour while the eighth adopts a more concise, classically inflected manner, and together they occupy a transitional place in his middle-period output.
