Cello Suites 1-3
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Heinrich Schiff
Cello Suites Nos. 1-3 are the first three of the Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed around 1720. They exemplify Baroque solo writing for the cello, combining dance-derived movements with implied polyphony and technical demands, and occupy a central place in the solo cello repertoire as examples of Bach's mature contrapuntal and melodic writing for a single instrument.
