Piano Trios Nos. 1 & 2 are the two piano trios by German composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, composed in 1839 and 1845. Rooted in early Romantic chamber music, they combine lyrical piano writing with active string lines, contrasting energetic scherzo movements and more contemplative slow movements, and they mark a mature stage in Mendelssohn's chamber output that helped shape the nineteenth-century piano trio repertoire.
