Boléro is a one-movement orchestral composition by the French composer Maurice Ravel, composed and first performed in 1928. The piece is driven by a persistent rhythmic ostinato and a single melodic idea that is passed among sections of the orchestra while the texture and dynamics build progressively, showcasing Ravel's interest in orchestration and colour late in his career.
