Dido & Æneas

Album by Henry Purcell & Les Arts Florissants & William Christie

Dido and Aeneas is an opera by the English composer Henry Purcell, composed around 1689. The work exemplifies English Baroque vocal and theatrical music with expressive arias, choruses and dance-inspired instrumental writing, and it is a key early example in Purcell's output that helped shape English opera and theatre music of the period.
