The Planets

The Planets is a seven-movement orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, completed in 1916. Rooted in early 20th-century orchestral tradition, the suite employs vivid orchestration, expanded brass and percussion forces and modal and chromatic harmonic language to evoke distinct planetary characters, and it played a central role in establishing Holst's reputation within British orchestral music.
