Symphony no.10
Album by Gustav Mahler & Minnesota Orchestra & Osmo Vänskä
Symphony No. 10 is the final symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, written in 1910 and left unfinished at his death in 1911. The work, presented in performing versions assembled posthumously, is rooted in late-Romantic orchestral language with dense chromaticism, expansive forms and striking orchestration, and occupies a transitional place at the end of Mahler's career, pointing towards the expressive and harmonic directions of early 20th-century music.
