Defector is the fourth studio album by English guitarist Steve Hackett, released in 1980. The record is a blend of progressive rock, melodic guitar lines and synthesiser textures with relatively concise song structures, and it follows Hackett's earlier solo albums as he shifts toward more compact, song-oriented arrangements in his post-Genesis career.
