L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato is a pastoral ode by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1740. The work uses choral, solo and orchestral forces in a pastoral and theatrical style and moves between sprightly, dance-like passages and more reflective sections, and it was written during Handel's mid-career, a period when he composed several large-scale vocal works.
