A Midsummer Night's Dream
Album by Felix Mendelssohn & William Shakespeare & The Peter Hall Company & Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest & Jeffrey Tate
A Midsummer Night's Dream is incidental music by the German composer Felix Mendelssohn, composed in 1842. The score is a Romantic-era orchestral work that uses lyrical string lines, agile woodwind motifs and bright orchestral colour to evoke the play's fairy world, and it occupies an important place in Mendelssohn's output as a mature example of his theatrical and symphonic writing.
