Symphony no. 2 in C minor, op. 29 / Le poème de l’extase, op. 54
Album by Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin & Gürzenich‐Orchester Köln & Dmitri Kitayenko
Two orchestral compositions by Alexander Scriabin were composed in 1902 and 1908. They exemplify Scriabin's transition from late-Romantic orchestral writing to an increasingly chromatic, mystical early-modernist language, employing dense orchestral textures, bold harmonic extensions and a focus on colour and atmosphere that anticipates his later, more overtly mystical works.
