Symphonies 4 & 6

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Heidelberger Sinfoniker & Thomas Fey

Symphonies Nos. 4 and 6 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1808 respectively. They belong to his middle period and contrast the poised classical balance and scherzo-like vitality of the Fourth with the pastoral, programme-driven character and vivid orchestral colours of the Sixth, reflecting Beethoven's evolving orchestral language and interest in extra-musical depiction.
