Faust Symphony / Dante Symphony
Album by Franz Liszt
Faust Symphony and Dante Symphony are two programme-driven symphonic works by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt, composed and first performed in the 1850s. Both pieces extend Romantic orchestral language via expansive thematic transformation, dramatic contrasts between solo and choral/orchestral forces and vivid programme-based structure, representing a pivotal phase in Liszt's development of the symphonic poem and his exploration of large-scale orchestral narrative.
