Album by Gustav Mahler & Ileana Cotrubaș & Christa Ludwig & Wiener Philharmoniker & Zubin Mehta
Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" is a symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and premiered in 1895. A large-scale late-Romantic work scored for an expanded orchestra and vocal forces, it progresses from sombre, funeral-like textures to an emphatic, transcendent finale and exemplifies Mahler's expansion of symphonic form and programme-driven narrative at a pivotal stage in his career.
