Carnival of the Animals
Album by Camille Saint‐Saëns & Australian Chamber Orchestra & Richard Tognetti & Peter Garrett
Carnival of the Animals is a musical suite by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed in 1886. The work is a light-hearted example of late Romantic orchestral music that employs distinctive instrumental colours, playful motifs and chamber textures to evoke a parade of characters, and it occupies an unusual place in Saint-Saëns's output as a divertimento he largely restricted from public performance during his lifetime.
