Symphony No. 6 in D minor “Pathétique”

Symphony No. 6 in D minor, Pathétique, is the final completed symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed and premiered in 1893. A late-Romantic orchestral work characterised by expansive, emotive melodies, rich orchestration and stark contrasts of mood — including a sombre closing movement — it represents Tchaikovsky's last symphonic statement and occupies a central place in late 19th-century symphonic repertoire.
