Requiem (Grande Messe des Morts)
Album by Hector Berlioz & Robert Tear & London Philharmonic Choir & London Philharmonic Orchestra & André Previn
Requiem (Grande Messe des Morts) is a large-scale choral and orchestral work by French composer Hector Berlioz, completed in 1837. Scored for unusually large forces including expanded brass, percussion and multiple choirs, it employs dramatic orchestral colour and dense choral textures characteristic of the Romantic era and marked a notable expansion of Berlioz's experimental approach to orchestration and large-scale sacred music.
