Dido and Aeneas

Dido and Aeneas is an opera by English composer Henry Purcell, composed circa 1688. Rooted in the Baroque idiom, it combines expressive solo vocal writing, choruses and continuo-led orchestral textures and is one of the earliest examples of English opera, forming a notable part of Purcell's stage repertoire.
