Symphony No. 9 in D is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1909. A late-Romantic orchestral work characterised by expansive forms, intense dynamic contrasts and introspective slow movements, it is Mahler's final completed symphony and reflects his late-period preoccupation with mortality and farewell.
