Symphony No. 7 is the seventh symphony by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1941. The work is a large-scale orchestral symphony in the 20th-century classical tradition, characterised by expansive thematic development, dramatic contrasts and martial motifs, and represents a major wartime composition in Shostakovich's output that reflects the tumult of its historical moment.
