Symphony no. 6 “Pathetique”
Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & London Symphony Orchestra & Igor Markevitch
Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique" is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1893. The work, written at the end of his life, is a late-Romantic orchestral piece characterised by expansive lyricism, stark dynamic contrasts and a sombre, introspective finale, and it is Tchaikovsky's final completed symphony, reflecting his late-career exploration of emotional depth and structural experimentation within the symphonic tradition.
