Handel: Messiah

Album by George Frideric Handel & Lynne Dawson & Magdalena Kožená & Brian Asawa & John Mark Ainsley & Les Musiciens du Louvre & Marc Minkowski

Messiah is an English-language oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin in 1742. Combining solo arias, recitatives and large-scale choral movements with Baroque orchestral forces, the work marks Handel's shift from Italian opera toward English oratorio and occupies a central place in the choral repertoire and in his late output.
