Cello Concertos
Album by Edward Elgar & William Walton & Daniel Müller‐Schott & Oslo‐Filharmonien & André Previn
The Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 is a concerto for cello by English composer Edward Elgar, completed in 1919. The work, written late in Elgar's career, exemplifies late-Romantic British orchestral writing with a sombre, introspective tone, lyrical solo cello lines and rich string-dominated orchestration that reflect post-World War I sensibilities and its place as a significant late work in his output.
