The Abyssinian Mass is an album by American trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis, released in 1988. It blends jazz ensemble writing with choral and liturgical elements and uses big-band textures, gospel-rooted harmonies, orchestral colour and extended vocal passages; it followed Marsalis's earlier acoustic albums and shows his move into larger-scale works that draw on American sacred and jazz traditions.
