Symphony no. 2
Album by Jean Sibelius & Georges Prêtre & Philharmonia Orchestra
Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, completed and first performed in 1902. The work is a late-Romantic orchestral symphony characterised by expansive melodies, dense yet transparent orchestration and shifting tonal centres, and it represents a key moment in Sibelius's early mature output as he developed his national Romantic style.
