Piano Concertos 1 & 4
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Martin Helmchen & Deutsches Symphonie‐Orchester Berlin & Andrew Manze
Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 4 are piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1795 and 1806 respectively. Rooted in the Classical tradition yet pointing towards Romantic innovation, the works combine virtuosic piano writing with close orchestral dialogue, with the earlier concerto adhering more closely to classical concerto forms and the later expanding the solo-orchestra relationship and expressive scope as Beethoven's style developed.
